Stationsweb Help - Stationsweb as a Website

AWEKAS Stationsweb can be used as an easily configurable weather website. The following sections describe how this is done.

Operating Modes

AWEKAS Stationsweb can be operated in three modes:

  • (Web)App Mode This is the default operating mode and the only mode available in the iOS and Android app. The user can add multiple stations as favourites and switch between them. This mode is active when you access AWEKAS Stationsweb at https://stationsweb.awekas.at.

  • Strict Mode Stationsweb is locked to a specific weather station. The user cannot switch between stations via the app interface and no introduction is shown. This mode is activated as soon as a station ID is specified in the URL (see section below).

  • Embedded Mode Builds on strict mode — in addition, all navigation elements are hidden. This mode is intended for embedding Stationsweb as an iFrame into your own website. Settings defined via URL cannot be changed by visitors in the app settings. AWEKAS Stationsweb Premium is required for this mode and is only available in the EU and Switzerland.

URL Parameters

Language and station ID can be set directly in the URL path. For example, https://stationsweb.awekas.at/en/2 links to the station with ID 2 in English — /en/ denotes the language and /2 the station ID. As described above, specifying a station ID automatically activates strict mode.

Additional parameters are available for embedded mode, allowing the appearance of the embedded page to be customised — for example, a transparent background for better integration into the embedding website. In the station operator settings you will find the Embed Helper, which allows you to conveniently adjust all parameters and generate ready-to-use iFrame URLs.

Custom Domain & Subdomain

With AWEKAS Stationsweb Premium, Stationsweb can be made accessible under a custom address. Two options are available:

Custom Subdomain

Stationsweb will be accessible under a subdomain of the form [YOUR-CHOSEN-NAME].stationsweb.net. The desired subdomain must still be available. Please contact the AWEKAS team to complete the setup.

Custom Domain

Stationsweb can additionally be operated under a fully custom domain. To do this, a CNAME record must be set up in the DNS settings of your domain provider pointing to stationsweb.awekas.at.

Note: The visitor counter is only available when using a custom domain.

Both options are only available in the EU and Switzerland.
