Stationsweb Help - Wallpaper & Weather Effects
The Stationsweb background consists of two independent layers: a wallpaper and animated weather effects. Both can be active at the same time and are configured separately.
Wallpaper
The station operator can set a background wallpaper that is displayed for all visitors of the Stationsweb page. This setting is found under Gallery & Wallpaper in the station operator settings.
The following wallpaper options are available:
- Sky wallpaper (default) – A dynamic sky-like colour gradient that adapts to the current time of day and weather condition.
- Preset wallpapers – A selection of built-in background images provided by AWEKAS.
- Webcam image – The station’s live or latest webcam image, if a webcam has been configured.
- Custom gallery images – Any image previously uploaded to the station’s gallery.
Weather Effects
Weather effects are lightweight animations rendered as a layer between the wallpaper and the page content. They visually reflect the current weather conditions at the station.
How effects are determined
The displayed effect is based on the following order of priority:
- Manual weather report set by the station operator
- Sensor values (e.g. a connected rain gauge actively detecting precipitation)
- Current weather condition derived from the station’s data/forecast
Available effects
Sunshine, clouds, rain, snow, fog, hail, and lightning.
Visibility note
When the weather condition is clear, no clouds or precipitation effects are shown. This is correct behaviour — it may appear as though effects are disabled, but they are working as intended.
Turning effects on or off
The station operator can enable or disable weather effects for all visitors of their Stationsweb page. This setting is found in the station operator settings.
Visitors can override this on their own device by activating Low Power Mode in the App Settings, which disables weather effects regardless of the operator’s setting. This is useful on older or lower-powered hardware where animations may impact performance.
When embedding Stationsweb via iFrame, weather effects can also be hidden through iFrame parameters. This requires a Stationsweb Premium licence.
