Stationsweb Help - Privacy Settings

AWEKAS Stationsweb offers extensive options to control the visibility of your page. As Stationsweb is a weather website, it is public by default — but it can be restricted to suit your needs.

Page Privacy

The station operator can control the visibility of individual pages in the station operator settings. The following options are available:

  • Public – Everyone can access this page.
  • Login required – Only the station operator can view this page after logging in.
  • Hidden – The page is not shown to anyone.

Note: Hiding the forecast page also hides the forecast widget on the home page.

Sensor Privacy

The station operator can control the visibility of individual sensors in the station operator settings. This setting affects both the direct display of the sensor value and all derived values calculated from it — for example, hiding the temperature sensor also hides the heat index and wet-bulb temperature; hiding the wind sensor also hides derived values such as wind chill.

The following options are available:

  • Public – Everyone can see this sensor’s values.
  • Login required – Only the station operator can see this sensor’s values after logging in.
  • Hidden – The sensor’s values are not shown to anyone.

Important: Indoor sensors (e.g. indoor temperature and indoor humidity) are set to Login required by default when correctly configured. They can be set to public, but this is not recommended for privacy reasons. Use at your own discretion.

PIN

The station operator can set an access PIN in the station operator settings. When a PIN is set, all visitors must enter it before accessing the Stationsweb page.

The intended use case is to restrict access to a specific audience without sharing the operator login — for example, to share a semi-private Stationsweb page with family or colleagues. A PIN-authenticated visitor can only access content that is set to public; content set to login required remains visible to the operator only.

The station operator is never asked for a PIN — the operator login takes precedence.
